The letter 'P' stutters in the red light advertisement board of the word 'Happiness', which is placed above the stage. Radiant happiness is rarely perfect, rather imperfect. This piece choreographed by Guy Weizman and Roni Haver from Club Guy & Roni is again well timed, daring and challenging. A theatre piece that stikes your emotions.

At times it almost feels like happiness is a must... But you can also discover great beauty in sadness. Happiness is an absurd and bittersweet comedy in the tradition of films as 'Happiness' by Todd Solondz and 'the Royal Tenenbaums' by Wes Anderson. Stories about disfunctional families where you don't know whether you should cry or laugh. Families with sweet, weird and eccentric people who choose their own bumpy road in life. Their desire to find happiness is grand and colourfull. The dancers are wearing strinking combinations of costumes: big eyewear, golden wigs, balroom skirts and so on. Because of these extreme form of clothing the characters came to life and you could see the roles of every member of this family. There were also cuddly penis tubes and big animal suits on the surface, which made it even more fun to watch.

The way feelings are conveyed to the audience is tremendously impressive and also the live music from Slagwerk Den Haag ensures the whole of the performance. The movements are strong and quick, well timed and special, just as Club Guy and Roni is.
Also a very interesting aspect from this choreography is that there are 'normal' people being part of this piece. People just picked from the street you could say. The dancers present an alter-ego for these 'normal' human beings.

More people should go and watch this special and beautiful way to make art. You will be concentrated and awake during the performances of Club Guy and Roni. You will cry, laugh and be overwhelmed by the incredible performers you see on this stage.

To finish this story, a fun fact: in the making process of this piece the dancers had to develop their own character and the Club made a soap opera about this. This is on youtube and it is hilarious! The link to the pilot episode below the photo.
